Lab-grown diamonds are real diamonds. Same physics, same chemistry, same beauty. Here is everything you need to know.
The 4 C's
Diamond grading,
simplified.
Weight, not size.
Carat measures weight (1 carat = 0.2 grams). But two stones of the same carat can look different sizes depending on cut quality and shape. A well-cut 1.5 carat round can face up larger than a poorly cut 2 carat.
That is why we list face-up dimensions (in millimetres) on every stone. Do not buy blind on carat alone.
D through H. Nothing below.
D is completely colourless. As you move down the scale (E, F, G, H), faint warmth appears. Below H, the yellow tint becomes visible to the naked eye, even in white gold or platinum settings.
All Celestyn diamonds are graded D-H. We do not stock below H because the difference is visible, and we will not sell you a stone we would not wear ourselves.
FL through VS2. Eye-clean.
Clarity measures inclusions - tiny natural features inside the diamond. FL (Flawless) means no inclusions visible under 10x magnification. VS1 and VS2 have minor inclusions that are difficult to see under magnification.
The key term is "eye-clean" - inclusions invisible to the naked eye. All Celestyn stones are eye-clean. We never sell below VS2.
Where brilliance lives.
Cut is the only C controlled entirely by human craft. A diamond's ability to reflect light - its fire, its scintillation, its sparkle - comes from the precision of its facets.
An Ideal or Excellent cut diamond will dramatically out-sparkle a "Very Good" cut of the same carat, color, and clarity. This is where you should never compromise. We stock Ideal and Excellent cuts only.

Are lab-grown diamonds real diamonds?
Yes. Lab-grown diamonds have identical physical, chemical, and optical properties to mined diamonds. The FTC recognises them as genuine diamonds. Only specialised gemological equipment can distinguish origin.
How are lab-grown diamonds made?
Two methods: HPHT (High Pressure High Temperature) replicates the earth's natural diamond-forming environment. CVD (Chemical Vapor Deposition) grows diamonds layer by layer from carbon-rich gas. Our Surat partner is the world's largest CVD producer.
Do lab-grown diamonds get cloudy?
No. A lab-grown diamond is as hard and durable as a mined diamond (10 on the Mohs scale). Any dullness comes from oils and residue, easily cleaned with warm water and mild soap.
Do they come with certification?
Every Celestyn diamond comes IGI certified (International Gemological Institute), graded on the same 4C standards as mined diamonds. The certificate includes a laser inscription number verifiable on the IGI online database.
Can I verify the diamond myself?
Absolutely. We encourage it. At our Sydney atelier you can inspect your stone under professional microscopes, cross-reference the GIA/IGI laser inscription online, and use our diamond tester. For ultimate peace of mind, we will accompany you to a CBD jeweller of your choice for independent verification.
What is your return policy?
30-day free returns on all unworn jewelry. Contact us and we will send a prepaid insured return label via FedEx. Custom-designed pieces are eligible for store credit.
